The Virtual Yoga Studio

Yoga Instructor Jen Hoffman delivers unique classes to you right where you are. Her classes include yoga poses that release tension while increasing strength and balance and always close with restorative yoga and Savasana. I asked Jen a few questions so we learn a little more about her and her inspiration.

What led you to develop the Virtual Yoga Studio?

There’s a reason we call yoga a practice. The more time we spend on the mat, the more benefits we see from yoga in all facets of our lives. But time is at a pretty high demand these days, and too many weeks end with just not enough of it to get to yoga. Schedules and budgets are tight, so attending regular classes at a beautiful yoga studio isn’t always feasible. But, it’s easy to grow tired of repeating the same yoga DVDs. My Virtual Yoga Studio was born out of a desire to offer affordable, accessible, unique yoga classes.

Tell us about your blog.

Years ago, in a yoga studio far, far away, I learned of this idea of intentions – set goals for my time on the mat that brought focus to all the meandering thoughts of my mind and body. Later I wondered if I might apply this idea of intentions to other areas of my life, and a light bulb the size of a Volvo went off above me. A good intention, goal or purpose is like a magnet for our thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors. It provides order and clarity amidst a very disorderly, chaotic world! Every Breath I Take is where I share my attempts – both failed and successful – to live life with these intentions in mind. You’ll find posts in four intention categories: Yoga, Parenting, Relationships and Faith.

What's your favorite part about running the Virtual Yoga Studio?

I absolutely love hearing about the ways a regular yoga practice improves the lives of my virtual students! Those emails inspire and encourage me immensely!

HeadshotJennifer Hoffman is not your average yogi. A public accountant turned certified yoga instructor, Jen now balances an active practice with her busy life as a blogger, mother, and wife. The key to this balance is simple: Jen lives life with intention. At EveryBreathITake.com, she encourages her readers to do the same, writing with a heart for whole and healthy lives on parenting, faith, relationships, and, of course, yoga. Jen teaches Virtual Yoga Classes from her home studio in Northern Virginia and relies on her husband Derek to keep their two lovely children – and two furry Labradors – off camera through Namaste.

He is 35 years old and since he started getting sick at age 30, our lives and those of our children have been forever altered. He started dialysis last June and after adjusting to setting up the machine, taking care of him, cleaning the machine and life with daily dialysis for him, we are both working towards losing the weight so he can have a transplant. I started in December and I have lost 10 pounds and he has lost 13 so far. I have 67 to go to be a donor! I think yoga would be great to help with my stress as well as continue to lose the weight.
