In true frugal living style, this is a DIY makeover by yours truly. I have a designer I would LOVE to use, but this little blog is going to have to do some more growing before I can afford to hire her. Someday!

Not only is this a blog make over in the visual sense, with a new logo, new navigation, and new colors, but it also marks a slight refocus on the blog content. Last month, before I started on my summer blogging break, I asked GrowingSlower readers to take a short survey, so I could find out how I could best meet your needs as real moms.

The response was truly amazing. I had been praying about the direction of the blog and your answers to the survey were reassurance to what I was already feeling the answer was. The way I can best serve you at this point is to provide you with simple, money saving tips that will work in your real life. Don’t worry, I definitely still plan to talk plenty about simple living, natural birth, and babies! But the driving focus and the deep need I’m seeing is that you are looking for more peace in your family finances.

So now, I am happy to introduce to you the new look for GrowingSlower…

You might remember, GrowingSlower used to look like this.

I want to show you around some of the new features that hopefully will make GrowingSlower much easier for you to get around and find what you are looking for! Oh, and nicer to look at too!

The Logo

Considering we haven’t lived in Seattle for a year and a half, the blog header was WAY over due for an update! And seriously, it has been ages since I’ve had time to knit. I think there’s a reason why it’s grandmas and not moms that have a reputation for being knitters. Goodbye Space Needle and ball-of-yarn sunshine!
The new logo keeps bright and cheerful colors and the symbol of the rising sun for all the growth that we hope to do.
There’s also a short description for new readers to quickly find out what GrowingSlower is all about.

Navigation Bar

There’s a new navigation bar at the top of the blog, so you can quickly find exactly what you’re looking for. If you’re new to GrowingSlower, click the bright red “Start Here” button. Looking for articles about Pregnancy & Birth, Family, Natural Health, Frugal Living? Click any of the corresponding orange buttons for a whole list of posts and resources on each topic.

Want to send me a quick message? Click the contact button. I would love to hear from you! Would you like to work with GrowingSlower as a sponsor or know a great business that might be interested? There’s a link for that too!

The archive gives you another option for reading past posts. If you want to look back at all 300+ posts in chronological order, that’s your place.

Amazon Search

If you’ve been reading long, you know I use Amazon to save time and money on just about everything I buy! I’m also an affiliate for Amazon. That means I get a small commission (at no cost to you) when you use the search box in the right side bar or one of the links I share in my posts.

Starting in late 2013, I committed to give 25% of my commissions each month to charity. (Right now, it’s Living Water International.) There have been $206 given to date to help people in need get access to clean drinking water because you took the time to start your shopping here on GrowingSlower. Thank you!

Blog Search

If you’re looking for a specific topic or phrase, you can use the Search this Blog box. It’s powered by Google, but only searches GrowingSlower instead of the whole web. After all that, if you still can’t find what you’re looking for, email me and let me know! I’m always looking for new post ideas.
Well, I think that about covers everything.

Tell me what you think about the new look in the comments!
